BECOME A WINTER 2021 VOLUNTEER
In past years, we have opened up cold weather shelters in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, North Decatur Presbyterian Church and Decatur First United Methodist Church.
Because of COVID-19, we will not be able to open a physical location this winter. But, with the generosity of Holy Trinity Episcopal Parish, we will be housing families with children in hotels, and will provide material assistance to others.
Here are our plans and we are asking for your help.
Meet in Sycamore House parking lot at 4 PM on the evenings when the temperature is forecasted to fall to or below 35 degrees. You will be notified of opening nights.
We will be providing:
• Sleeping bags, blankets, socks, mylar blankets, hygiene
kits, and hand warmers to be included in a “survival kit”
• A hearty supper bag or gift card for nourishment
• Round trip Marta cards to help people travel to the
overflowAtlanta cold weather shelters.
Please sign up on our Sign-Up Genius, Cold Weather Assistance, to help us keep people safe this winter.
Or make a donation. Round trip Marta cards are $6 each. We will be providing approximately 30 cards a night with the possibility of 30 cold weather nights. Every cent you donate goes to helping those without a home and for our new rapid re-housing initiative – placing people in permanent homes.
