During the month of February I had the opportunity to meet with several key stakeholders after starting my role as the Executive Director. I meet with Nikki Kundrum and we had the idea of how do celebrate with the unhoused community on Valentine’s Day. Nikki Kundrum had been serving chili on the streets for years so we thought let’s serve chili/cupcakes and provide a nice care package for patrons.
On Valentine’s Day we had 43 community friends join us behind Decatur Recreation Center for a day filled with love, laughter and fellowship. Partners in action - A Home For Everyone provided cupcakes, Nikki Kundrun provided the Souper Jenny chili and care pakages, Commissioner Kelly Walsh shared kind words and served patrons. Thanks Decatur Recreation Center staff for the use of the park and allowing us to show some compassion.
